Awards season is sometimes long and usually very boring, but for fans of fashion, the Grammy's then come along to give us all an uplift in mind and spirit.
Most of the women were dressed to the hilt in some real glamorous looks some glimmer and some funny but all in all entertaining.
So here are some of the Best and some of the Worst of the 51st annual Grammy Awards.
The Best:
Kate Beckinsale: This actress graced the red carpet in a form-fitting, super-chic black gown with a fluted, tiered mermaid-style skirt.
Katy Perry: The "I Kissed a Girl" was pretty in pink for her first Grammy Awards show. Her flowing gown that she wore was almost too sweet for TV but was also extremely classy.
Jennifer Hudson: After winning best R&B album, her choice was a fitted dress with a tall white pleated bodice and a pencil skirt, perfect choice for her come back to the public stage.
Some of our actors seemed to be taking a lot of the riskier stuff, Coldplay, the foursome went with a pseudo-military costume both on and off stage. Will Champion (Drummer), after Coldplay won song of the year for "Viva La Vida," apologized to Paul McCartney for using the Sgt. Pepper look.
Death Cab for Cutie: These boys dressed to the nines in dapper suits for their nomination of Best Alternative Music category. Could Ben Gibbard’s fiance, Zooey Deschanel, be helping the group in the style department?
Jennifer Hudson, was in a knee-length dress and a white bodice, over black and gun-metal gray. Her hair was straight and slicked back, showing off lots of eyeliner, long lashes and drop earrings.
Jay-Z was very stylish, classically dressed but went with a white T and black leather for a duet with Martin earlier in the show.
A few of the Grammy choices were a little wild but definitely par for the occasion;
Whitney Houston's blue and white gown that showed a lot of leg, while some of the younger women chose to make their entrances in the old-fashioned styled gowns.
The Worst:
Pregnant hip-hopper M.I.A. performed her hit “Paper Planes” dancing around in a polka-dot outfit with an almost bare midriff that made her look like a bumble-bee.
Bai Ling: Routinely making the worst-dressed lists, Ms. Ling's Grammy's mini-dress, featured a hot pink bow at the hem, definitely a gift worth returning.
Paula Abdul: This American Idol judge must have thought she was back in Rome with a Spartan-inspired gown sporting heavy-duty shoulder armor. Maybe she thought Simon or Kara DioGuardi would be around to stab her in the back?
Carrie Underwood: This Grammy Winner was all class on the carpet but then changed into a dress that was a mixture of romance and bondage for her performance.
Katy Perry: Summoned up memories of Carmen Miranda featuring a fruit-filled short mini dress with hanging bananas as she sang, “I Kissed A Girl.”
Comedian Black: Along with his Grammy-nominated father-in-law and bass player Charlie Haden, was in a costumed high hat and baby-blue jacket over a brown shirt and a gold necktie. What was up with that?
